The Only Hot Cocoa You’ll Want to Drink This Winter

I’ve been making this hot cocoa recipe a few nights a week. It’s soooo yummy and comforting this time of year. And it beats the store bought stuff every time.
Cacao is packed with antioxidants + rich in minerals like magnesium, iron, copper and potassium so basically it’d be perfectly fine to have a cup of this every single night this winter…
What you need (for 1 mug’s worth of cocoa):
- 1 cup milk of choice (I use grassfed, organic whole milk. You really can’t beat whole milk in hot cocoa IMO, but if you’re dairy-free try something creamy like cashew or oat milk)
- 1 tbsp organic cacao powder
- A handful (about 1-2 tbsp) of cacao nibs or dark chocolate chips (these are amazing)
- Around a tbsp of maple syrup (measure with your heart)
- A pinch of salt
- A dash of Ceylon cinnamon (optional)
How to make:
Heat all ingredients in a saucepan over medium-low heat, whisking until all the cacao powder is mixed in and the chocolate chips/cacao nibs have melted completely. Top w/ marshmallows or whipped cream if that’s your vibe. Enjoy 🙂
